Goldhofer FT Series Selected by Kahl Schwerlast GmbH

At this year’s bauma, Goldhofer presented a world first in the form of the FT SERIES, a pivot-mounted pendulum axle combination system in the heavy payload class designed for both on-road transportation operations and heavy load handling in non-public areas. The vehicle concept made a correspondingly big impression at bauma.

During the event in Munich Andreas Kahl, Managing Director of Kahl Schwerlast GmbH, placed an initial order with Goldhofer AG at Bauma for 38 axle lines of the new modular FT SERIES.

Kahl Schwerlast GmbH is well-known beyond the borders of Germany as an international heavy haulage and logistics services provider. The Kahl Group of companies offer on-time and economical transportation logistics services of all kinds. They are particularly in their element when it comes to heavy and exceptional transport solutions. “With our fleet of special vehicles, our own trimodal storage and transshipment facilities in Duisburg and Dresden, our know-how, and our long-serving and experienced employees, we have a potential that is second to none,” says Andreas Kahl.

The company is continually investing in the latest technology so as to be sure of remaining one step ahead of the competition. “Especially when it comes to vehicle technology, we consider it important to always be up-to-date so that we can offer our customers economical and, above all, on-time and safe transportation solutions,” says Andreas Kahl, with reference to his plan to increase the current total of several hundred Goldhofer axle lines in the fleet by up to 200 additional lines from the new FT SERIES.

At the time of purchase, the FT SERIES can be adapted to individual requirements, thus avoiding the compromises that were often necessary in the past when placing an order. Basic width and bending moment, for example, can be individually specified for all standard bogies. And that is only the beginning. The highlight of this groundbreaking transport system is a new wheel set. With its intelligent design, the new unit not only offers an optimized suspension stroke of 640mm and a steering angle of 60 degrees, but also the flexibility to adapt to changing requirements – even after purchase. There are five different single and twin tyre options to choose from for a loading height of between 760mm and 940mm for axle loads of 22t to 45t. But that is not all. To facilitate easy integration of the new FT SERIES into the existing fleet, the axle compensation cylinders can be specified for compatibility with Goldhofer’s entire heavy-duty portfolio. This is the key to a system with almost unlimited combination capability.
