German Submarine Transported by Koninklijke Van der Wees Transporten from Kiel to Dordtrecht – Video
The Koninklijke Van der Wees Transporten Group from Dordrecht has successfully transported the submarine U-17 from Kiel via the Kiel Canal and via the North Sea to Rotterdam and on to Dordrecht on behalf of Kübler Spedition GmbH and the Technik Museum Sinsheim Speyer.

The transport of the 500t, 50m long, submarine started with a 900t crane loading the U17 on to a sea going barge from Koninklijke Van der Wees Transporten Group at German Navy Yard in Kiel.

Leaving through the Kiel Canal on Saturday 29 April under tow from the Herman Sr. BV tug, Teddy, and over the North Sea, the U17 arrived at the Hoek of Holland on Monday 1st May. Here the small convoy of the Van der Wees barge and the tug added the Van der Wees push tug Geertruida van der Wees which eventually powered the barge to the Van der Wees quay side in Dordrecht.

This week on Thursday 11 May at 06.00 hours the U17 will leave Dordrecht for Speyer where it is scheduled to arrive at the natural harbour of Speyer on Wednesday, May 17. The road transport to the Technik Museum Speyer will take place on 21 May.
This part of the transport can be followed live on the website of the Technik Museum Sinsheim Speyer.
The Technik Museum Sinsheim Speyer, the Spedition Kübler GmbH and the Royal Van der Wees Group are pleased to continue the decades-long German-Dutch cooperation for this transport.
