First of the “LakerMax” Series – BBC LEER – Handed Over from Shipyard to BBC Group

After a long wait, the first newbuilding of the “LakerMax”-series, mv BBC LEER, has been handed over from the shipyard to the Briese Group last week. The vessel will subsequently enter service with the group and will be trading worldwide.

The BBC LEER is not only a good looking ship, she is also very impressive!

The “LakerMax”-series are multipurpose heavy-lift triple decker vessels, that come with two Liebherr LS 250 cranes, with a 500t combined maximum lift, a cargo intake of almost 26,000m³ and more than 5,000m² covered floor space under deck. The bridge and crew accommodation is located at the front of the ship, with all on-deck facilities of the vessel located portside. This allows for an impressive unobstructed 2,830m² of space on the weather deck.

She is certified to sail with open hatches and is designed to still fit the St. Lawrence Seaway and the Great Lakes, while trading worldwide.

In total there will be 14 more vessels due in the “LakerMax”-series after the BBC LEER.
