Final Performance Tests for New 5,000t Crane on Pioneering Spirit
Allseas are ramping up the final performance tests of Pioneering Spirit’s new 5000-tonne crane as the final phase of commissioning nears conclusion in Alexiahaven, Rotterdam’s Tweede Maasvlakte. The main hoist overload test was performed on Monday with a cargo barge weighing 5500 tonnes.
Next up are auxiliary hoist, power management and speed tests. Once complete, the crane will be certified and ready for action during this summer’s heavy lift campaign.
Complementing the unique topsides and jacket lift systems, the new crane will be used for lighter offshore lifts, such as smaller topsides and jackets, flares and bridges, and further enhances the versatility of the world’s largest construction vessel.
