This is the Mo.s.e., project intended to protect the city of Venice, Italy, and the Venetian Lagoon from flooding.

On this particular leg of the whole project, Fagioli has been the inventor, the designer, the builder and final user of the CV.02.EVO.C Gantry Launching System for the removal of the barrier gates for maintenance activity at the Bocca di Lido Treporti in Venice.

Activities involved:

  • positioning of the Gantry Launching system onto the cement caisson where the barriers are located.
  • lifting of the barrier out of the water and its positioning onto a barge.
  • sea transport in Venice lagoon; unloading and land transport operations with SPMT straight into the maintenance area.

The dimensions of each barrier are 20m x 20m x 6m with a weight of 250t.

The first barrier section was mobilized in three days.

Next step, the maintenance activity and the transport back into the installation area, ready to be operational as soon as possible… and then it repeats all over again one by one with the remaining 77 barriers!
