When MJ van Riel BV were faced with the need for precision installation of a sheet metal press brake weighing over 32,000 kg in a low height building, the industrial moving specialist opted for an Enerpac SL300 hydraulic gantry. 

The SL300 gantry offers the highest lifting capacity on a 61cm track gauge in heavy lifting and rigging applications.

The press brake is in two parts each weighing 32,500 kg and measuring 5.06(L) x 2.86(W) x 4.11(H).  To cope with the limited working height, MJ van Riel used a low loader to transport the press brake into the factory. Equipped with two stage lifting cylinders for loads up to 3000 kN, the SL300 gantry and header beam’s electric powered side shift unit lifted and positioned each press brake. Both parts were aligned and levelled accurately.

Like all Enerpac gantries, the SL300 features self-contained hydraulics. MJ van Riel used the gantry’s Intellilift wireless remote control for unobstructed views of the load, and accurate positioning of the press brake. The SL300 ensures automatic synchronization of lifting with an accuracy of 25.4 mm and automatic synchronization of travel with accuracy of 15 mm.

 “The SL300 gantry gave us a trouble-free lift and is perfect for this kind of project where there is low headroom and no internal crane,” said Frank van Oosterwijk, Commercial Technical Adviser Industrial Movements, M.J. van Riel Industrial Movements. “The powered side shift was particularly effective in providing the accurate positioning we needed.”

The SL300 telescopic hydraulic gantry is designed to meet stringent safety requirements and complies with the safety standards set by ASME B30.1-2015. At 2705mm retracted height, the SL300 has a lift capacity of 3000 kN (four legs), at stage 1 lift capacity is 750 kN at 4605 mm, and at stage 2 the lift capacity is 500 kN at 6700 mm maximum height.

To ensure quality performance, each gantry is tested to 125 percent of capacity at full extension and witness-tested by a qualified, third-party organization. The SL300 is also CE-compliant. For enhanced durability, the SL300 offers a sturdy, proven base frame that can withstand a variety of environmental conditions.
