Eight Cranes on One Project

Recently a spectacular lift was carried out with eight mobile cranes in Minden harbour, North Rhine-Westphalia. Minden Harbour is being built as transshipment port for containers in the Port Weser region. Eight various cranes operated by Franz Bracht and Hofmann were use for the installation of a ship to shore container crane. While Hofmann contributed their LTM 1500-8.1, Bracht had an LTM 1450-8.1, two LTM 1300-6.2, two LTM 1200-5.1 and one LTM 1160-5.2 on-site.

Due to the weight, the operation was performed in several steps. The main lift, a so-called Quadrohub, had to handle a weight of about 200t, which was taken over by the LTM 1500-8.1, the LTM 1450-8.1 and two LTM 1300-6.2s. While these four cranes held the crane runway at a height of around 35m, the other four cranes delivered the supports one after the other and mounted them on the already pre-assembled rail wheels.

On the following two days, the outrigger extensions were installed at both ends, one extending over the land and the other over the water giving the container crane a reach of just under 125 m Two days later the trolley with a weight of almost 45t was lifted, completing the installation.
