EGYTRANS Heavy Lift Project

Recently EGYTRANS successfully transported and lifted a turbine and a generator for the Cairo West power plant. The dimensions of the turbine were 9003 x 4600 x 5886 mm, weighing 245t, and for the generator 10459 x 5105 x 4158 mm, weighing 290t.

Both packages had to be lifted 16.00 m over the ground level to reach the operation floor, and then to be skidded for > 50 .00 m to reach their foundations using a strand jack gantry system.

Before offloading the turbine and the generator to their final positions both had to be rotated 90 degrees to be adjusted on their correct orientation.

EGYTRANS engineering team made all the necessary investigations, calculations and method statement for this operation ensuring a smooth and safe operation.

This was the first time in Egypt for this type of operation and also the operation was carried out by a 100% Egyptian team.

EGYTRANS used a strand jack gantry system designed and manufactured by ENERPAC, assembled and operated by their own EGYTRANS team.
