EEW Special Pipe Constructions Complete Ørsted’s Order for 165 Hornsea Two Monopiles
Almost exactly 11 months after the first load out, the last five monopiles for Ørsted’s offshore wind farm Hornsea Two were loaded at the quay of EEW Special Pipe Constructions GmbH on 30 July 2021.
A total of 165 foundations were loaded by two self-geared vessels. The monopiles were shipped from Rostock to Eemshaven, from where they were then taken onto the installation site.
Ørsted’s 1386 MW offshore wind farm, Hornsea Two, is located approximately 89 km off the coast of Yorkshire in Great Britain. The construction work on the installation site began in late summer 2019. When complete in 2022, it will be able to meet the electricity needs of up to 1.3 million homes per year, and bring low carbon power to the UK and the opportunity for economic growth in the Humber region.
The wind farm will also take the lead as the world’s largest offshore wind farm.
