EEW SPC to Manufacture 64 Monopiles for Calvados OWF – Video

EEW Special Pipe Constructions GmbH will manufacture 64 monopile foundations at their Rostock site for the 450 MW Calvados offshore wind farm (Courseulles-sur-Mer) located in Normandy, France for Saipem, a global solution provider in the energy and infrastructure sectors. The contract signing took place at the beginning of April 2021.

For Saipem, it is the first monopile project in its history. “So far, we have successfully completed projects with Saipem that have mainly been in the offshore oil/gas and clad pipe sectors. We are proud that after excellent collaboration on the first offshore wind jacket project Formosa II, we are now in a position to realise the first monopile project for Saipem with Calvados offshore wind farm,” says Michael Hof, Managing Director of EEW Holding GmbH & Co. KG.

In total, EEW SPC will process about 50,000 tonnes of steel into monopiles from the 3rd quarter of the current year.

The Calvados offshore wind farm is scheduled to go into operation from 2022 and will go on to supply more than 630,000 households with electricity.
