DEME’s Apollo ready to kick off pin pile installation for wind farm in Taiwan

CDWE (DEME and CSBC-DEME Wind Engineering) will start the installation of the pin piles for the 298 MW Zhong Neng offshore wind farm project off the coast of Changhua County, Taiwan. The activities announce the entering of the construction phase.

The installation will be performed by the jack-up vessel Apollo. The pin piles have been produced locally by CTCI Mac and will be installed using a special, in-house designed template. Working in close cooperation with the client and local supply chain partners, CDWE is very pleased to reach this important milestone as the offshore construction phase gets underway.

The first load-out of pin-piles was carried out this week. CDWE will install 93 pin piles and the jacket foundations, as well as the Vestas V174-9.5 MW turbines.

The project is being jointly developed by Taiwan-based China Steel Corporation (CSC) and Danish fund manager Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP). Once completed in 2024, Zhong Neng will generate green electricity for 300,000 Taiwanese homes. Source: DEME
