DEME’s “Apollo” Completes Transition Piece Installation on OW Ocean Winds Moray West offshore wind farm

Another milestone reached at Moray West! DEME’s offshore installation vessel ‘Apollo’ has successfully completed the installation of transition pieces at the OW Ocean Winds Moray West offshore wind farm in Scotland. This follows the recent completion of the monopile installation with their ‘Orion’ in April and enables the installation of the 15 MW wind turbine generators (WTG) installation.

DEME used innovative bolting tools and specially designed large handling equipment for the giant 90mm diameter M90 bolts to ensure safe and efficient installation of the transition pieces.

The successful monopile and transition piece installation campaign was made possible by the commitment and expertise of DEME’s amazing crew, project team, and their strong partnership with the client, OW Ocean Winds.

The Moray West offshore wind farm will generate 882 MW, powering over 1.3 million homes.
