Debut for M.J. van Riel’s 4+6 CombiMAX Trailer from Faymonville
Recently M.J. van Riel took delivery of a new 4+6 CombiMAX trailer combination from Faymonville.
Coordinated by M.J. van Riel’s project manager, Gerwin Boermaars, their first mission with the CombiMAX was to transport an 88t transformer over two nights from Regensburg across Germany to Veghel in Noord Brabant, in the Netherlands.
After low underpasses where Boermans paid tribute to “the lowbed and the low loading height pay off, giving us the necessary centimetres,” and tight roundabouts, “masterfully negotiated thanks to the agile pendle axles,” the transport reached the final phase.
The last phase consisted of reversing from the main road to the transformer station, where M.J. van Riel’s mobile crane was waiting. The team was perfectly coordinated, and the driver, Ed, had a good overview from his Mercedes Arocs 8×4 tractor unit, also on its first mission.
Thanks to the low loader’s power steering system, the driver was also able to thread into the factory area in just a few seconds.
Once all the chains and tension belts were released, the crane lifted the transformer, placing it a few metres from the low loader on the designated spot with pinpoint precision.
With the load removed, the lowbed returned to its curved pre-tensioned position. For unladen journeys some axles are lifted, to simplify manoeuvring and reduce tyre wear.
“The next projects are already planned”, Gerwin Boemaars reported on the full agenda for the new CombiMAX.
M.J. van Riel has branches in Tilburg, Moerdijk, Eindhoven and Oss. The experts provide maximum flexibility for solutions in the areas of lifting, heavy duty transport and industrial transport. Their first Faymonville vehicles were delivered to the company in 2001. Now M.J. van Riel is taking a step towards the modular product segment at Faymonville and is relying on the modular principle of the CombiMAX.
