Crane & Equipment Takes Delivery Of First Custom Built GMK6450-1 Crane in the Caribbean
The Bridgetown, Barbados-based rental company Crane & Equipment has taken delivery of the first Grove all-terrain, custom-built GMK6450-1 crane in the Caribbean. The strongest heavy-duty 6-axle crane on the market, the GMK6450-1 shares the same design as the Grove GMK6400-1, but with an increased maximum capacity of 450 t.
It will tackle jobs at varied construction sites throughout the island, including energy and infrastructure applications. The new acquisition expands Crane & Equipment’s growing fleet of Grove cranes, which currently relies on a GMK5250L and a GMK4100L-1.
“We are very excited to add such an impressive crane to our fleet. We have built a reputation of providing top-of-the-line equipment to our customers in Barbados, and this new Grove will help us reinforce the highest standards of our services,” said James Bradshaw, owner of Crane & Equipment.
The GMK6400-1 is the strongest heavy-duty 6 axle crane on the market with a self-rigging MegaWingLift™ (rigging time < 20 min). It is able to take on jobs that would usually require a seven- or eight-axle model, this outstanding 400 t all-terrain crane features an improved hydraulic system with faster flow to provide quicker operating speeds and even smoother movements.
As an upgrade to the GMK6400, its implementation of Manitowoc’s CCS ensures that performance is optimized and operation can be boosted to a whole new level. Furthermore, with the addition of MAXbase variable outrigger positioning, capacities on the main boom are increased.
