Collett and Sons were contracted to transport two 215t super grid transformers from GE in Stafford in the English midlands to the Kintore Substation about 15 miles North West of Aberdeen in Scotland.
Discharging in Aberdeen
Replacing a road journey of over 400 miles (>640km) for a combined vehicle and trailer length of 65.8m, Collett selected a relatively short 70 miles (>112km) route to Ellesmere Port, from where they were shipped by sea to the port of Aberdeen and onward by road for last 15 miles to the substation site.

Once on site both transformers were manoeuvred on to their final position using Collett’s hydraulic jacking and skidding equipment.
