Collett and Sons Transporting Wind Farm Components in Ireland
The Drumlins Park Wind Farm near Newbliss in County Monaghan has reached another major milestone with the successful delivery to site of the first turbine tower sections.
The 18.2m long components were transported overnight through Monaghan Town and Newbliss village to minimise disruption to local traffic. Specialist hauliers Collett & Sons Ltd are delivering all eight 6.1MW GE tower and blade sections – that’s 64 separate components. The longer loads have a Garda escort.
Components will be transported from Waterford Port via motorway and regional roads to Monaghan Town and on to the site entrance. The transport project will continue through August and September and is due to be completed in October.
Commenting on the first delivery, Energia Renewables Head of Construction Patrick Tierney said, “This is a significant milestone in the construction of Drumlins Park Wind Farm and now means that we are one step closer to generating green electricity on site and helping to drive the transition to Net Zero. Preparing for the turbine deliveries requires precision surveys and planning and we’d like to thank everyone involved in helping to get these impressive turbine components to site.
