Collett and Sons Ltd Transport Tunnel Boring Machine to Newark – Video
Making good use of their Enerpac JS-125 hydraulic Jack-Up System, the Collett Heavy Lift Team had a busy week in Lutterworth relocating a tunnel boring machine to a new location in Newark. A total of five TBM components were removed from the warehouse, with the three heaviest transported by Collett.

The heaviest unit, weighing 120t, was skated into the centre and lifted by the 500t capacity lift gantry. Once safely raised to the required height, the unit was loaded onto a 10-row drawbar trailer.

The following two units, weighing 98t and 89t and measuring 4.7m in diameter followed the same process however, utilising their Holmatro 200t capacity lightweight skidding system. The units were manoeuvred into position before being loaded onto a bespoke 5bed5 drawbar trailer built around the unit prior to lifting.
In accordance with the delivery schedule, all units were safely loaded and delivered to the new facility.
For more information about this project and many other projects you can meet Collett and Sons Ltd in Rotterdam from Tuesday to Thursday next week at Breakbulk Europe 2023.
