The project started with a 120 ton yankee dryer, the biggest ever to be transported on Guatemalan roads. Add low bridges that required additional bracing and a concrete slab at the place of delivery that was not designed to support the proposed loads, and you’ve got yourself a highly interesting engineering challenge.
Even more challenges included a specially designed spreader to install the yankee, a tropical storm during transport, metal bridge structures that had to be lifted and, finally, a customized shoring system to support the newly constructed concrete slab on-site.
Daco Heavy Lift are proud to have taken part in this complex and challenging project and to have successfully completed it without incidents.
