Broshuis BV Ransomware Attack – Update

As reported on the 2nd of February, Broshuis BV was hit by an aggressive ransomware attack on January 29th. Due to the ongoing investigation, they were not in the position to provide more information at that moment.

They have now confirmed that on Monday, 31st of January, they were already up and running for 90%. This is thanks to their ICT structure, the adequate response from their IT department and the help of external professionals, in that weekend.

Unfortunately, (personal) data has been stolen and this might be made public. There is unfortunately no clear picture of which data has been leaked. They have therefore made a complete analysis of everything they have stored and contacted all potentially involved persons and partners. Of course, a police report has been filled out and an official report has been made to the Dutch Data Protection Authority.

Over the past few weeks, Broshuis BV has been checking all their systems for illegal software and ensuring that they are secure again. The consequences of this ransomware on their production process (which was already challenged by Covid-19) have therefore been kept to a minimum. This attack has ensured that they are now even better protected against attacks from outside. They will stay in touch with their partners in order to closely monitor future developments.

Broshuis BV remains open in their communication with their clients and especially wants to thank everyone for the sympathetic messages and the understanding of this situation.
