Briese Schiffahrts’ 5th OTECO 9000 vessel – ECO Trinity – Launched in China

As part of a new building program for Briese Schiffahrts GmbH & Co. KG, based in Leer, Germany, 10 “OTECO 9000” type general cargo vessels are are planned to be built in China at the Dayang Offshore shipyard.

The first vessels in this class, ECO Titan, has already been in service since last year. The fifth vessel, ECO Trinity, has recently been launched. the remaining five vessels are due to be launched later this year

 

 

OTECO stands for “Open-Top Eco” Generation and the current newbuildings are a further development of the OTECO 5000 vessels in their fleet, like “MV Monika” and her sisters.

The OTECO 9000 is 132,8m long and 18,85m wide, with a smaller beam of only 17,6m at the waterline. The superstructure is arranged on the foreship, therefore the full open deck area of more than 2000m² can be used for stowage of deck cargo.

 

 

The very large cargo hold with a length of about 85m in the lower hold and 97,4m in the upper hold can be divided flexible in several compartments by using tween deck panels and/or grain bulkheads.
