Boskalis working on One Project with Two Vessels Making Three Journeys
With the extensive Boskalis fleet of transport and installation vessels, working worldwide on various offshore wind projects, it can often happen that both types of vessels are working on the same project but on many thousands of miles apart. Such is the case for Ocean Winds’ Moray West offshore wind farm project.
This weekend, Boskalis had two vessels, crane vessel Bokalift 2 and heavy transport vessel White Marlin both engaged in this Ocean Winds’ Moray West project.
The Boskalis crane vessel Bokalift 2 started its journey from the Netherlands to Scotland to install the first XXL monopiles, which are currently stored in the port of Invergordon. At the same time their semi-submersible heavy transport vessel White Marlin has been loading eight XXL monopiles in Penglai Port in China for the same project. Each monopile weighs about 2,000t and has a diameter of 10m.
This will be the second time this year that White Marin has transported XXL monopiles from China to Invergordon, a distance of more 11,000 nautical miles via the Suez canal.
Best wishes and good luck go to the crews of both vessels and the project team working on this project!
