Boskalis Vessels Deployed on Deep and Heavy Decommissioning Project for Harbour Energy
Together, Boskalis’ construction support vessel BOKA Southern Ocean and diving support vessel BOKA Da Vinci has been carrying out decommissioning work in the North Sea for almost a year. At depths up to 150m, several obsolete offshore structures and associated infrastructure were removed from the seabed.
The BOKA Da Vinci was the first to sail to the decommissioning sites to dismantle the first parts of the infrastructure and to prepare the heavy sections for lifting to the surface at a later stage by the BOKA Southern Ocean using her strong 250t crane.
The result is impressive. On behalf of our client Harbour Energy, more than 22km of flowline and umbilical has been safely removed, as well as many heavy construction piles, manifolds and drilling templates – ranging in weight from a few tons to up to 160t, and more than 500 concrete mattresses that had been installed on the seabed decades ago to protect the installed cables and pipelines.
Boskalis is proud to have added another complex subsea decommissioning project to their track record and thank Harbour Energy for their excellent cooperation.
