Boskalis’ Sustainability Ambition Boosted with Installation of 1,700 Solar Panels on Waalhaven Service Centre
Recently, 1,700 solar panels were installed on the roof of the Boskalis service centre in the Waalhaven in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Together, these panels are expected to generate 654,000 kilowatt hours (kWh) of green electricity per year. The installation of the panels marks an important step towards realizing their sustainability ambitions for their offices and distribution centers in the Netherlands.
In recent years, solar panels were already installed on the roofs of their head office in Papendrecht, their yard in Capelle aan den IJssel and on the roof of their distribution center in Vlaardingen among others.
Including the newly installed panels, the 9,150 solar panels at their premises in the Netherlands generate more than 3 million kWh of green power per year, equivalent to the annual consumption of 1,200 households. Achieving this new milestone, however, does not mean that Boskalis has reached the finish line. There are still plenty of plans to install more solar panels, both in the Netherlands and abroad.
