Boskalis’ Semi-Submersible Heavy Transport Vessel Forte Installs Topside for SapuraOMV in Malaysia -Video
Recently after a skidded load-out of the 14,000t platform at the MMHE West Yard in Pasir Gudang, Malaysia, the Boskalis semi-submersible heavy transport vessel Forte sailed to the installation location.
The Forte sailed backwards to install SapuraOMV’s Jerun-A topside off the coast of Sarawak, Malaysia, just as a truck reverses to unload.
Here, the float-over installation was carried out with surgical precision. Prior to this transport and installation project, the dynamic positioning system (DP2) was installed on the Forte, which automatically controls the vessel’s position and course with great accuracy during the installation activities. This allowed the Forte to manoeuvre precisely between the foundations on which the topside rests.
Boskalis thank Malaysia Marine & Heavy Engineering and SapuraOMV Upstream (Sarawak) Inc. for the great collaboration during this flawless float-over project!
A few years ago, the Forte executed a similar operation in the Bokor field offshore Borneo. The video of this operation can be seen below.
