Bonn & Mees Transport New Boomrest for Van Oord’s Aeolus Between Damen’s Yards in Schiedam and Botlek

The new boomrest for the longer boom to be installed by Damen on Van Oord’s Aeolus has been transported from Damen’s yard in Schiedam to the Damen Verolme yard in Botlek by the Bonn & Mees floating sheerlegs crane Matador 3.

Van Oord announced the upgrade to the 1600t crane in September last year. Huisman designed and are building new 133m long boom.
Aeolus will be fit for duty with the new boom as from early 2023. The vessel will then be capable of installing the new generation 12-15MW turbines while maintaining its lifting capacity of 1,600t for foundation installations.
