BOKA Vanguard Prepares for Transport of Floor – formerly known as Fremantle Highway – from Rotterdam to Far East
15 months ago, a large fire broke out onboard the car carrier vessel Fremantle Highway in transit North of the Dutch coast from Bremerhaven, Germany to Singapore via the Suez Canal loaded with 3700 cars.
In a twist of fate, Boskalis, the company that attended the fire in August last year with their emergency response vessels from Smit Salvage, is now contracted to transport the renamed vessel on board their BOKA Vanguard.
Yesterday this vessel, now renamed Floor and stripped of the upper decks, took the first steps to continue the voyage, now as freight on board the Boskalis heavy lift vessel, when she was floated on to the 70m wide 275m long submerged deck in the Port of Rotterdam.
Work continues today on the seafastenings for the long voyage to the Far East where Floor will undergo repairs and modifications enabling her to return to service.
