At the beginning of 2024, MAN Energy Solutions signed a contract to produce 48 dual-fuel engines (oil/gas) for the Karpowership Group’s fleet of power plant vessels.

The first twelve examples were transported at the end of November from Nantes-Saint Nazaire Port to Turkey. On Tuesday 31 December, from the Quai des Charbonniers in SaintNazaire, a new load of 12 engines took place on board the BigLift Fleet’s versatile heavy lift carrier, Happy River, equipped with two cranes with a capacity of 400t each.

The handling operations were carried out jointly by the SOGEBRAS and Groupe IDEA teams. A fine example of the coordination and know-how of the logistics and port professions.

These new engines will equip the fleet of powership, these ships transformed into floating power plants of the Karpowership group, making it possible to produce electricity in certain regions of the world where land infrastructure is insufficient or unavailable.
