Recently the Port of Monroe, Michigan’s only port on Lake Erie, was “Happy” to welcome the BigLift Shipping B.V. vessel Happy Ranger. The vessel discharged a 370t transformer for a DTE Energy power plant onto a specialized HLI Rail & Rigging, LLC rail car. The port’s turning basin rail spur makes direct ship-to-rail transfers like this possible.
The Happy Ranger loaded the transformer at the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, and is just one example of how cargo can be efficiently transported into the heartland of North America via the Great Lakes/St. Lawrence Seaway!
The Port of Monroe was proud to be a part of this cargo evolution!
