BigLift Baffin Bound for West Africa with Jack Up Production unit
MV BigLift Baffin has recently loaded a 10,000t Jack-up Platform in Vlissingen, the Netherlands, with the destination of Gentil Port, Gabon, West Africa.
The former drilling Jack-up drilling rig has been converted to a production facility for Perenco’s Tchendo oil field.
The Jack up Platform has an overall width of 86m and its legs are 134m long.
BigLift Baffin was the right vessel for the job, with her large, flush deck of 125m x 42m, her high deck strength and uniform grid of bulkheads and web frames, her sophisticated ballast system and state-of-the-art dynamic positioning system.
The Platform stood waiting in the water in the port of Vlissingen. BigLift Baffin slowly positioned herself underneath, making optimum use of the DP2 system which allowing her to remain accurately and precisely positioned in line with the Jack-up’s frames. Thus the platform could be safely lowered until it landed on the BigLift Baffin deck.
Yet another great project where the BigLift Baffin successfully deployed her DP2 configuration.
