Grove and Potain Cranes to be Exhibited on Manitowoc Stand at JDL 2021 in Beaune
Manitowoc will be showcasing tower and mobile cranes under the Potain and Grove brands at JDL Expo, taking place June 23-25 in Beaune, France.
The largest and most modern private marina in the Baltic Sea has taken delivery of a Grove RT550E rough-terrain crane for a variety of jobs including repairs, civil works, boat moves, mast installations and general maintenance. The owner ancora Marina GmbH from Neustadt in Holstein chose this crane because of its impressive lifting capacity of 45t and its 39m long main boom.
“In a marina like ours, a poorly executed lift or careless maneuvering can quickly lead to costly damage. Due to the clear and confident operability of our new, compact Grove RT550E, we don’t have to worry in this regard,” said Ralf Schmidt, Head of Operational Services at ancora Marina GmbH. “For the implementation of a wide variety of applications, the excellent lifting capacities and ranges of the crane were also an important purchase criterion for us.”
Thanks to its wheelbase of just 3.66m, which enables the tight turning radius of 7.0m2 m in two-wheel steer mode, the crane is ideal for the confined spaces typical of marinas. If maneuvering is required in even tighter spaces, the crane can also be operated in four-wheel steer mode (with crab and all-wheel drive). This flexibility of movement means a reduction in the time required to position the crane, making complex lifting jobs quick and easy.
Reach is also provided with the five-section MEGAFORM™ main boom, which extends from 9.9m to 39m. And even at maximum radius there is no lack of power – the crane can easily lift loads of 0.7t at 32m. This is more than enough to meet the daily port lifting needs.
Manitowoc’s popular and intuitive CCS crane control system, standard on the RT550E, allows easy selection of boom lengths using the boom configurator – another feature that was of particular interest to ancora Marina. It simplifies the telescopic retraction and extension of the boom and increases productivity and efficiency. Two full-color graphic displays for a clear view of what is happening and armrest-mounted jog-dial controls for easy navigation and data entry ensure that the crane operator always has all the relevant information and can count on the support he needs.
Once in position, the crane’s three-position extending outriggers (0%, 50% and fully extended) with inverted outrigger cylinders create a firm foundation so every lift is performed smoothly.
ancora Marina GmbH offers 1,400 berths for ships from 6m to 35 m. In addition, several winter storage halls with a total area of over 21,000 m2 and an asphalted outdoor area with a storage area of another 20,000 m2 are available. The facility offers its customers year-round competent yacht service and support, which also includes complex repairs.
