ALS Shipping Wind Farm Components in Scandinavia – Gallery
Abnormal Load Services, ALS, recently began its fourth Wind Farm Project of 2020 in Scandinavia.
The project will last from August through to October and will involve ALS Project Managers on the ground in Sweden overseeing daily operations relating to vessel discharge, transfer to storage, management of components in storage, re-load from storage and transfer to the wind farm site.
ALS’ renewables team will be handling 275 components comprising of nacelles, gears, hubs, blades and towers totalling over 14,300t.
This project involves the discharge of 8 vessels with the largest wind turbine component measures: 15.78m long x 5.80m wide x 5.52m high, with a weight of 78t.
Abnormal Load Services have been involved in several renewable energy projects in Scandinavia over the last 18 months including the project management of 74,053t of wind farm equipment from port to site over a period of 9 month, where a total of 1515 components were discharged from vessels, stored and then reloaded to transport – in total 149 complete turbines unloaded and delivered to 5 different wind farms.
Coordination and detailed planning were key to this overall project with 6 transport companies working together to achieve 1500 deliveries to the sites.
