Varso Tower to Take Terex CTL 340-24 Crane,
Terex Ordered for Varso Tower Project, the Tallest Tower project in EU
A thruster for a hydro power station was transported from Poland to Wales recently by ALS. The thruster 5.81m long, 5.81m wide and 1.35m high and weighing 36,000kg, had to be loaded on to a tilt frame on the trailer in order to comply with restrictions imposed by Highways England for the movement of cargo in excess of 5m wide. The hydraulic tilt frame was used to reduce the width of the transport to 4.90m wide allowing a standard movement order to be applicable.
For the final 30 miles of the journey on the Snowdonia National Park roads North Wales Police provided a 5 strong escort team to ensure road safety.
