Allseas Re-Cap on Pioneering Spirits Tyra Project Lifting Operations – Video
27,000 tonnes of steel removed from Danish waters and transported 2000 miles to disposal yards around the North Sea for recycling – all in less than 2 weeks.
Before embarking on another busy season with their heavy lift vessel Pioneering Spirit, Allseas take a look back at last summer’s challenging Tyra Redevelopment project for Total E&P Denmark.

The project involved multiple lifts of diverse structures weighing between 14,000 and 900 tonnes. Thanks to Pioneering Spirit’s unique motion compensated topsides lift system, it is a case of move in, lift and move out.
Allseas deployed their Iron Lady to transfer the loads from the Pioneering Spirit to the respective recycling yards and their multipurpose offshore construction vessel (OCV) Fortitude.
Their scope was to remove platforms, modules and jackets:
- 14,000t Tyra East Alpha and 7,800t Tyra West Alpha platform topsides
- 5,000t Tyra East Alpha and 2,900t Tyra West Alpha platform jackets
- 1,200t Tyra West Delta and 900t Tyra East Delta flare jackets
- 1,400t K and 1,000t IPF modules
Allseas have produced the video, below, showing how this project was completed with their unique vessels.
