Allelys Transport 333t Turbine from Ipswich Docks to the Progress Power Station in Eye

Following the delivery of the first unit by Allelys, reported on Monday last week, the second of three units was delivered to Progress Power Station in Eye on Sunday, 5th November.

 

 

The second unit is the heaviest of the 3 units, a 333t turbine, measuring:

  • Length    81m, 6.7
  • Width       6.7m,
  • Height      5m.

The turbine was received at the Port of Ipswich and transported to site on a 28 axle girder frame trailer.

The delivery is one of the key components which forms part of the Progress Power station. which when operational, will have the capacity to generate enough instant electricity to power 150,000 households and will be used during periods of peak electricity demand, providing back-up to other sources of electricity, including weather-dependent wind turbines and solar farms.
