ALE Wins SC&RA Haulage Award for Complex Venezuelan Project
ALE transporting six 22MW power plant engines to the Santa Ines Refinery in Barinas State, Venezuela.
27 April 2018
ALE secured the prize in the trucking greater than 500,000 lbs. net category for their transportation of six 22MW power plant engines, weighing a combined total of 1,891 US tonnes, from Italy to the Santa Ines Refinery Development in Barinas State, Venezuela.
As the distance was so vast, covering almost 1,000 combined land and nautical river miles, the project was split into three phases over three years. ALE faced routing and logistics challenges that required complex engineering studies, co-ordination with different authorities, and significant preparations with an experienced team.
The SC&RA, an international trade association of more than 1,300 members from 46 nations, hosted their annual conference and awards in Boca Raton, Florida, in the USA.
The SC&RA Annual Conference was attended by members involved in specialized transportation, machinery moving and erecting, industrial maintenance, millwrighting and crane and rigging operations, manufacturing and rental. The Awards program recognizes worldwide excellence in the crane, rigging and specialized transportation industry.
ALE was shortlisted with several others for the Transportation Group Hauling Job of the
Year, a category which recognises and honoursmember companies that have performed outstanding achievements in moving and trucking jobs. The judging process involved an award submission, followed by a presentation in front of other category entrants to explain the technical challenges surrounding the project and what services ALE showcased.
