Al Faris reveals work on Route 2020 metro extension for Expo 2020 Dubai
Date 03 October 2018
Al Faris UAE, part of the local construction giant Al Faris Group, has revealed details on the Route 2020 Project, which includes the metro extension for Expo 2020 Dubai.
Al Faris was awarded the job of loading, transporting and lifting the heaviest precast girders of the Route 2020.
“A project of this nature with multiple jobs requires detailed planning and optimized utilization of equipment for a successful execution which is al done in-house by our competent engineers and technicians’, says Kieve Pinto, Al Faris Executive Director.
After calculations and analysis, it was decided to use a gantry system for lifting the girders due to confined space restrictions for tandem crane lift set-up and extra logistics cost of transportation.
At first the precast girders weighing 426t were loaded using their SBL900 gantry system on a Goldhofer 19 axle THP/SL multi axle trailer connected to a 680 HP Heavy Duty Prime Mover. The gantry was set-up using a Liebherr 100t All Terrain Crane and Forklift.
The precast girders were lifted and erected on the metro column by our 650t crawler crane with SSL2 configuration and 42m main boom. Al Faris’ team of engineers, heavy lift managers and supervisors were all present on site to ensure a safe and optimum lift with great efficiency. The transportation and lifting activity took place at night to avoid busy road traffic and other obstacles.
Furthermore, Al Faris has also been assigned to transport 250 metro wagons for the Route 2020 Project from Jebel Ali Port to the metro line.
