Working on behalf of GF Tomlinson for the Newark Air and Space Institute, the team from Lincoln based Ritchie Services Limited completed the unloading of an Airbus A318 fuselage, before positioning and jacking it to the required height The Airbus fuselage had been purchased as a hands on simulator for the college group.
The Ritchie Services’ team utilised an overhead hydraulic gantry to complete the initial offloading, before transferring to their Enerpac Cube jacks which had been mounted on to their skid track to allow a sideways push.
Once in the correct location within the building, the fuselage was raised on the cube jacks and stooled off in accordance with an agreed temporary works design that spread the weight of the fuselage over the concrete slab.
Mechanical work holding using the cube jacks allowed their technicians to work safely around the lift to place stools and steel work.
