Ainscough’s MK 140 Shines at Pembroke Refinery
Ainscough Crane Hire has utilised one of its two new MK140 cranes at its work at the Valero refinery in Pembroke, South Wales.
Pembroke refinery is one of Europe’s largest and most complex refineries and makes products including gasoline, diesel fuel, kerosene, liquefied petroleum gas, and petrochemical feedstocks.
Ainscough Crane Hire has worked at Pembroke for well over a decade and has a highly skilled and experienced team based permanently on-site.
Ainscough runs a number of cranes at the refinery which ranges in lifting capacity and enables the team to play an essential role in the day to day maintenance operations and project work on the plant.
Two Liebherr MK140 cranes were recently added to Ainscough’s fleet, reflecting the company’s commitment to continually investing in the best products available on behalf of its customers, and one was recently brought to the Pembroke site.
The MK140 was used on the site’s distillation column – or DIB column – for the removal and replacement of a pressure safety valve (PSV) on the top of the tower which is over 80 metres high. This is a job normally undertaken by 2 cranes – the MK140 was used to carry out both lifts.
Kristopher Owen, Ainscough Crane Hire’s on-site Valero team crane manager, said: “The introduction of the MK140 to our work at the Valero refinery really demonstrates the value to our customers – it’s a fantastic, versatile crane and it will be a great asset for projects across the country.”
