Ainscough Takes Delivery of New Liebherr LR1700 1.0 Crawler Crane
Ainscough Crane Hire Ltd has recently taken delivery of a new Liebherr LR 1700 1.0 crawler crane. The official handover took place on 30th October at Ainscough’s Leyland depot.
The company has purchased the new crane in order to enhance its expanding Projects Division as they seek broader opportunities within the heavy lift market.
The LR 1700-1.0 offers users a combination of lower transport costs, more associated with 600t class cranes, but with the lifting performance of 750t lattice boom models. Designed and manufactured around the physical dimensions of the smaller LR 1600/2, the LR 1700-1.0 utilises many of the components used in the smaller crane but with significantly higher lifting capacities of up to 15% thanks to a redesigned static structure.
Ainscough has specified the crane with HS boom and derrick, taken with folding V-Frame® which can operate between 13 – 21 metres, and with a maximum counterweight of 375t to give ultimate flexibility in derrick mode. The additional VarioTray enhances on-site efficiency. Ainscough’s model also comes with an additional power unit (APU) to power the cabin, the air con’ and the hydraulic oil pre-heating system, without the requirement for the main engine to be running. The APU also enables the LICCON system to remain active. The resulting decrease in engine idling time significantly reduces fuel consumption and emissions and the lower engine operating hours mean less maintenance work.
Ainscough Crane Hire’s CEO Peter Gibbs commented on the new purchase: ‘The Liebherr LR-1700 1.0 represents the latest design technology within the heavy crane industry and by adding one to our fleet it will give us the flexibility to undertake a wider range of projects with a single crane. Our recent open day to showcase the crane’s abilities to our existing customers has been a huge success with many clients expressing an interest in utilising its outstanding performance on their projects.’
Ainscough is the UK’s largest crane rental company with a fleet of more than 400 cranes operating from 30 locations across the UK.
