Ainscough Lifting at Logic Leeds with MechFS Ltd

Ainscough Crane Hire was enlisted by MechFS Ltd to help with the creation of a new warehouse at Logic Leeds, the 49.1 hectare industrial site on the northern end of the city.

MechFS Ltd is a leading design, mechanical, electrical, air conditioning engineering business that operates nationally with offices in Leeds, Sheffield, Doncaster and Birmingham and also operates throughout Europe with an office in Mannheim, Germany.

Ainscough was commissioned by the company on behalf of Bowmer and Kirkland, the project’s main contractor, who last year were appointed to deliver the 360,000ft2 distribution warehouse.

Ainscough’s work took place over a week, with rigging plans outlining a large scope of work lifting various M&E items onto the property. Using a 1000t heavy crane, with a 160t counterweight on the crane, an additional 90t in the tray with an 84m luffing fly jib & main boom at 52 degrees, Ainscough successfully raised air handling units (AHU), a chiller plant room and ducting onto the roof of the building, alongside other smaller features.

Limited space within the building site meant a nuanced technical approach needed to be taken, with the team at one point employing a 4t AHU to a radius of 116m.

Bob Beardmore, Ainscough Crane Hire’s Heavy Cranes technical manager said: “We are very pleased to have been part of the project team delivering this important scheme at Logic Leeds. Our wide range of services meant we were fully equipped to help MechFS Ltd in completing a safe and efficient lift.”
