AF Offshore Decom Lifts First L7 Gas Field Topsides with Matador 3 from Bonn & Mees
Last week, AF Offshore Decom had a successful campaign with the the Bonn & Mees BV shear leg floating crane Matador 3 lifting the first topsides from the L7 field in the Dutch sector of the North Sea.
After an exceptionally windy summer, our patience has finally been rewarded. The topsides were lifted and transported back to Den Helder for seafastening to a barge.
Next, these platforms will be towed to AF Environmental Base, Vats, in Norway for load-in, onshore dismantling and recycling.
AF Offshore Decom offers a big thank you to the entire team for making the first heavy lifts of this significant multi-year removal program a success.
On 21 September 2022 TotalEnergies and AF Offshore Decom signed a contract for the engineering, preparation, removal, transportation, dismantling and recycling (EPRD) of 10 production platforms from the L7 field in the Dutch sector of the North Sea. The total weight of these installations is around 17.000 metric tons, and the objective is to recycle up to 98% of all materials. The scope also includes installation work and preparations for redevelopment of infrastructure for the future use for carbon capture and storage (CCS).
