Aertssen uses new, innovative tailor-made ‘split-SPMT’ to move storage tanks for Ivens

Aertssen Group shared their latest project by Aertssen Kranen which involved the precise transport and installation of 23 storage tanks from the Ivens construction facility to the foundation at ADPO Group Nv’s site in the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, as part of a tank terminal expansion project.

This challenging task required intricate planning and exceptional skill, especially considering the placement of 10 tanks under a zone of high-voltage power lines with a maximum working height of 15 meters.

The Aertssen Kranen team overcame this challenge by using a new, innovative and completely tailor-made ‘split-SPMT’ where the tanks were placed and resting between the two halves of the SPMT.

This method allowed them to manoeuvre and directly place the tanks in their final locations without the need for cranes or other handling techniques.

This not only streamlined the installation process but also significantly reduced safety risks, Aertssen Group states. Watch the video of this project here
