A shipment fit for a King
March 27 – The port of King’s Lynn in the UK has handled the delivery of a 300-tonne Siemens gas turbine, which will be used to re-power Centrica’s power station in Norfolk.
The turbine arrived at the Associated British Port’s (ABP) site on the general cargo vessel Eastern Vanquish, operated by Scotline.
This delivery is the latest in a series of heavy cargo operations handled by the port of King’s Lynn, including two 110-tonne heat exchangers for Centrica that arrived in December 2017, as HLPFI reported here.
According to ABP, the port’s close proximity to the King’s Lynn power station minimises the distance travelled and reduces transport costs. SOURCE: HLPFI
