80t Airfreight for GE by Volga-Dnepr Airlines to Australia

Volga-Dnepr Airlines, the heavy lift airline operating a fleet of 12 Antonov 124-100 aircraft, has flown an eighty tonne cargo consisting of one General Electric 3.7MW wind turbine hub weighing 36t and three generator units weighing 12.6t to Adelaide airport, Australia,  from Cologne – Bonn airport. The turbine hub measured 4m in length.

On arrival in Adelaide it the cargo was taken to the Willogoleche Hill Wind Farm by road transport 199kms from the airport.

Ekaterina Andreeva, deputy commercial director of Volga-Dnepr Airlines, said: “This delivery is a very good example of how the long-term cooperation and permanent dialogue can result in saving time and money for our customer.

“Working closely with Volga-Dnepr’s longstanding partner GE, we could combine the urgent shipment of the wind turbine hub needed for the replacement and the transportation of three generators for new installations at the wind farm according to the project schedule.”
