52m Long Overhead Crane Weighing 442t Safely Transported by Osprey Group on 2 x 14 Axel Line SPMT’s

Osprey has completed the site transportation of a 52m overhead crane to HPC Turbine Hall 2 weighing 442t. It is the longest assets moved to date on the project.

Osprey supported FAYAT Group to design the transportation solution and temporary works designs for the movements of both fully built overhead cranes for Unit 2 across site from an offline build position to the installation position.

This off-line construction method has been developed as the next iteration following successful Unit 1 modular build activities.

Our engineering and technical early contractor engagement delivery team supported the project with identification of the proposed route, 3D swept path analysis, transportation solution (including dynamic stability) and temporary works design to enable the safe and efficient transportation activities.

Daniel Massey, Technical Director at Osprey, said:
“Osprey has successfully completed another highly complex transportation on the project, critical to the UK energy infrastructure plans. Our expert SPMT delivery teams, project delivery team, engineering team, and safety teams have evidenced again that early contractor involvement and project integration is a successful model for delivering complex logistics on major projects”
