This week, Fred. Olsen Windcarrier completed the company’s 400th wind turbine installation. The wind turbine was successfully installed at Vattenfall’s Horns Rev 3 project in Denmark, where A2Sea takes on turbine installation works with third party vessel, Brave Tern.

Horns Rev 3 will consist of a total of 49 V164-8.3 MW turbines from MHI Vestas Offshore Wind and will supply power to 425.000 Danish households once finished.

Sister vessel, Bold Tern, recently finished the installation of 56 V164-8.3 MW turbines for Ørsted at Borkum Riffgrund 2 in Germany.

The two vessels have a wrap-around-the-leg offshore-rated cranes with 800t maximum lift at 26m. A typical payload for the vessel is 7,600t consisting of transition pieces and foundations or turbines, blades and tower sections.

The Brave Tern and the Bold Tern are Gusto MSC NG-9000C-HPE designs, built in 2012 and 2103, respectively, with main cranes and jacking systems also designed by GustoMSC.
