$25 million cancer treatment equipment moves through JAXPORT

Highly trained stevedores recently moved state-of-the-art cancer treatment equipment worth 25 million US dollar through JAXPORT’s Talleryrand Marine Terminal. 

The proton therapy equipment is en route to the University of Florida Health Proton Therapy Institute in Jacksonville, where it will be used to prove an advanced form of radiation treatment. The equipment represents the largest expansion of cancer treatment capabilities in the facility’s history. 

The pieces, which was unloaded in three pieces, have a combined weight of nearly 200t and measure between 12 and 3.6 and 9.8 metres in length. The shipment arrived at JAXPORT aboard the Spliethoff general cargo vessel Snoekgrach from the Port of Antwerp. Freight forwarded ABL DISSACO oversaw the move as skilled master riggers with stevedoring company Patriot Ports transferred the cargo from the ship to specialty multi-axle trailers. 

The use of Talleyrand’s facilities provided skilled and experienced labor along with efficient access to the equipment’s ultimate destination in North Jacksonville.
