Heerema Fabrication Group (HFG) has awarded engineered hydraulic solutions specialist DGI Doedijns a contract to design and deliver the upend & flood control system for the Peregrino II jacket to be set off Brazil.
DGI said on Tuesday that the upend control center consists of 56 actuated valves, a control center, and interconnecting hoses.
The company added that it would also provide the yard installation of the equipment.
The Peregrino II jacket will be about 135 meters tall, have a footprint of 66 x 53 meters, and will weigh 9,300 metric tons, excluding the 12 piles.
Jackets, like the Peregrino II, are designed to float, and the legs act as floating chambers. The upend control center, a self-contained unit, supplies hydraulic power to operate a series of spring return actuated valves.
Valves will control the flooding of the floating chambers of the jacket. By controllable flooding the legs with water, the jacket will upend and be installed.
The jacket is part of a wellhead platform with a drilling unit tied-back to the existing floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel and will be operating in the Peregrino Phase II field development off Brazil.
The construction of the Peregrino II jacket is done at Heerema’s yard in Vlissingen, the Netherlands, and is scheduled to be ready for sail away in October 2019.
To remind, Heerema was awarded a procurement and construction contract for the Peregrino II jacket by South Atlantic Holding B.V. on behalf of the Statoil Peregrino II project off Brazil in May 2017. HFG cut first steel for the Peregrino II jacket in November 2017.
The Statoil-operated Peregrino is a heavy oil field, situated in the South and South West section of the Campos Basin, approximately 85 kilometers of the coast of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The field is presently developed with two wellhead platforms and a floating production, storage and offloading unit (FPSO). A system of pipelines, risers and cables connects this FPSO and the two wellhead platforms. Read More
